Small photobooks for wedding

With almost everybody having a camera nowadays, weddings produce a ton of photos not only from the official photographers but also from wedding guests.

Wouldn’t it be great to have all these photos printed in a photo book?

It’s easy.

Wedding Photobook Manila Philippines

Fotogra Books is an easy photobook service that can make 5x5in photobooks of your wedding or prenup photos. The 5×5 size is the perfect size for Instagram photos and the books is just the right size to bring along and share with friends.

It’s P550 for a 60 page album, P640 for an 80 pager and P730 for a hundred page photo book.

Just order a book through their website http://fotogra.ph, pay via Paypal or BPI deposit, upload photos through their form or submit a Dropbox link and wait 2-3 weeks for your book to be delivered. (Free delivery for Metro Manila, P150 for provincial.)

They only print one photo per page.

Engagement Prenup Album or Guest Book

How do I get the photos from the guests?

First, have a wedding hashtag for Instagram. Make sure the hashtag is not only unique so non related photos don’t end in your book but also easy to remember so guests won’t have a hard time

Let your guests know about the hashtag, maybe through the invites/misalettes, signs at the reception or letting the wedding host announce the hashtags regularly.

Second, use the website Instaport.me to download the images. They have a max number of 500 images to download and that is about 5-10 Fotogra Books already.

You could also create a shared Facebook album and have your friends upload their photos to the album.

One way of getting photos from Instagram is to take screenshots of your hashtag feed. Not only do you get to  the photo but also include who took it.

Instagram Wedding Hashtag

Once you have the photos you can rename them or use a layout apps such as — to make collages. Submit the photos to Fotogra using their upload form or share a link from Dropbox or Google Drive.

You could also make guest books using your prenup photos. Just leave blank pages for your guests to write in.

Wedding Cost in Manila Tagaytay PhilippinesThe idea of a June wedding comes from the Celtic calendar. It was tradition that on May 1st – or the Cross-Quarter Day of Beltane – couples would pair off to court and be wed the next Cross-Quarter Day, August 1st. Due to the impatience of young couples, the waiting period was shortened to mid-June, and the rest is history.

June is a bit of a sweet spot when it comes to an event like a wedding in the country. It’s halfway through the year and the weather is less difficult. When planning a wedding, there are a lot of costs that a couple must consider. There’s the venue, the clothes, the invitations, and a whole host of other things that you and your beloved will need to spend for before the big day.

Most will acquire the services of a wedding planner or coordinator to ensure that the big day runs as smoothly as possible. A wedding in the Philippines can cost as low as PHP 50,000 for a low-key event. Big weddings can cost upwards of PHP 1 Million. Let’s take a look at the average costs for your big day.

How much does it take to fund a wedding? Where does all your money go? How do you budget for a wedding? Let’s find out! The price quotes below are for a mid-range, low-key wedding ceremony for about 100 guests.

Wedding Preparations

Most wedding preparations take ample time and effort to secure. Yes, you can throw together wedding plans in less time, but there is a reason why most of these things take time. Here’s a breakdown of the expenses you and your future spouse are looking at:

  • Engagement Ring – PHP 8,000+
  • Invitations – PHP 25/pc.
  • Wedding/ Event Planner – PHP 22,000
  • Wedding Dress – PHP 25,000+
  • Bridesmaid’s Dresses – PHP 5,000+
  • Hair & Make-up – PHP 18,500+
  • Groom’s Attire – PHP 12,000+
  • Florist/ Décor – PHP 15,000+
  • Photographer – PHP 20,000+
  • Videographer – PHP 25,500+

A few factors that play into this is the overall theme that you both want for the wedding. For men (or women) finding the perfect ring takes up a week or two, consulting with your future spouse’s family and friends – and finally popping the question.

It’s ideal that you have a wedding or event planner so that most of the choices you both need to make will be easier. He or she will be able to make your selection and elimination process way easier, especially when it comes to the attire, the dress, and the décor.

The Ceremony and Reception

Your wedding planner may have an arsenal of people for most of your wedding needs. The venue might be somewhat tricky. A low-key ceremony venue may cost less, but these can be booked for your chosen date, and as such, you might need to wait for a few months, or book an off-season date for your wedding. Here’s a look at those costs:

  • Venue – PHP 22,000+ (with ac)
  • Wedding Ring – PHP 10,000+
  • Transportation (plus Decor) – PHP 3,500+
  • Reception Venue Catering – PHP 80,000+
  • Reception Entertainment – PHP 7,500+
  • Wedding Favors – PHP 130/pc.
  • Honeymoon – PHP 45,000+

One of the biggest areas that you and your future spouse control is the food. If you’re feeding a hundred guests, some of them may have dietary restrictions, so be sure to be inclusive. Will there be a bar? If there is going to be one, you may want to consider low-alcohol content cocktails.

Your honeymoon is totally up to the two of you, or if you’d rather save the money – consider a staycation instead.

The Total Cost

Getting married sure requires some serious spending, but ultimately, you control how much you spend for it. For this, you’re looking at a total cost of  PHP 335,000+. Of course, there are ways you can cut back on wedding expenses. The last thing you want is to start your married life in debt!

You can DIY certain aspects , like invitations, or the souvenirs. You can even enlist friends and family to help out when it comes to making a very personalized wedding. Don’t forget to shop around suppliers and to check out wedding trade shows to get the most out of your wedding budget.

Shiela Jocona - Ken Reyes Lao Wedding Website

Having a wedding website is perhaps one of the best things you can do to organize and advertise your wedding. Many people do not think of creating a website or using one to help them in their wedding activities, but Wedding Lab offers great ideas in organizing your wedding registry and wedding photographs. You can share your personal story between you and your future spouse as well. Wedding Lab is used mainly for registries. You can create your list of items you wish for and your friends and family can see exactly what you want. They are able to give money online per specific item, giving you liberty to get what you want.

Online Gift Registry

The benefits of having a wedding website may be even better than keeping a paper wedding scrapbook. It allows you to document your story, your progress, and even the wedding event itself. You can invite your friends from Facebook and other social media sites as well, so even if your friends and family are unable to attend your actual wedding, they can still show you that they are thinking of you by helping fund your gifts.

Make your wedding website using Weddinglab.ph

As far as having online wedding gifts go, it makes things very easy for your friends and family. There is no fear of purchasing the wrong gift. You can ask your family and friends to fund your honeymoon, massage services or things that you and your spouse will need in your new home.

Online Gift Registry - Weddinglab.ph

Wedding Lab is easy to use.

We asked Shiela Jocona of Weddinglab: How easy is it to create your wedding website and online gift registry and she sent us four easy steps.

  1.  Sign up and validate their email address
  2. Upload their profile photo, set their website address, add some wedding details (optional if they haven’t set a date/venue yet)
  3. Choose a theme
  4.  Pick gifts in our Registry suggestions to populate their gift registry and that’s it 🙂

Couples can share their website to family and friends via their social networks or include in their wedding invitations (we give out free Registry Cards).

There are also video tutorials for new members, guiding them on their way to making the best wedding registry they possibly can. The tutorials are helpful and well oriented for people to understand them.

Philippine Holidays 2014

Malacañang recently released Proclamation No. 655, declaring the national non-working holidays for 2014. If you are getting married and still picking a date for your special day, why not consider getting married over a long, holiday weekend? How about a weekday wedding that falls on a holiday? You do your guests a favor by helping them not file leaves off work and traffic on a holiday would generally be lighter.

There are many benefits to getting married over a long, holiday weekend. The first, and most obvious, is that it will be easier for people to get away and join you at your wedding. Especially if it is a destination wedding such as a Boracay wedding, people will be able to spend extra time getting to and from the event. Also, if you have friends, family and loved ones traveling from out of town, it gives them extra time, so they can spend more of their weekend with you and less traveling to you.

Will your wedding have a party? Will there be drinking? No one wants to go right to work the day after a big party. A holiday weekend will give them extra time to “come down” from your amazing day before having to get back to the office.

Often on holidays, there are many specials for travel and hotels and sometimes there are even special festivities going on already. Tap into these and make your wedding day even more special. How is the holiday celebrated? Use that to make your day even more special than it might have already been.

Here are the noteworthy dates that we think are perfect for weddings.

January 31, 2014, Friday – Chinese New Year. It will be the first time that CNY is celebrated as non-working holiday. It’s a long weekend (Jan. 31 to Feb. 2) and any of those dates would just be perfect for a wedding.

April 9, 2014, Wednesday – Araw ng Kagitingan – A perfect date for a summer weekday wedding.

June 12, 2014, Thursday – Independence Day – Independence day has been a popular date for weddings these past few years. Get on the trend.

August 21, 2014, Thursday – Ninoy Aquino Day
August 25, 2014, Monday – National Heroes Day

August may be ghost month on the Chinese calendar but more and more couples are choosing August as their wedding date after the 08/08/08 wedding craze. August 21 to 25 is just perfect for a destination beach wedding, your guests can file a 1 day leave and enjoy your wedding and a vacation to boot.

The dates for the Muslim holidays haven’t been announced but the estimated dates fall on what would be long weekends.

July 28, 2014, Monday – Eid’l Fitr
October 3, 2014 Friday – Eidul Adha

We hope this simple guide will help you plan your wedding. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials. Now get planning!

Guide for Wedding Guests in Taking Photos
Photos by Mimi and Karl.

One of the great things about social media sites like Instagram, Facebook or other photo-sharing platforms is that they allow you to share your experience at a wedding through pictures. Most people these days have a fancy digital camera that they use for such occasions and if not, the cameras on smartphones have advanced in leaps and bounds. This means that there are many ways to take memorable pictures, no matter what level of photography skills you have. Even a total amateur can create warm and colorful shots from a smartphone.

There is some advice you should follow when taking photographs as a guest at a wedding. Of course you want to take lots of photographs so you can remember the lovely day you had but it is important to be a courteous guest. Here are a few things you should keep in mind when snapping away:

1. Do not get in the way of the professional photographer.

Couples pay a lot of money for the services of a professional photographer. While they appreciate the many wonderful photos that guests can share with them after the event, you really shouldn’t bother the professional photographer on the day. Often, they are only present for a little while to take a certain amount of photos in a particular style. Don’t take photos at the same time, from the same angle – you’ll get in the way and could ruin that one perfect picture. Look around you before taking a photo to ensure you don’t disrupt the professional’s carefully lined-up frame.

If you fancy yourself as being quite handy with a camera, now is not the time to discuss exposure levels and lens options with the professional photographer. Don’t distract them from their job, and don’t try to direct them when they’re taking pictures. Relax, step back and let the professional handle the portraits.

2. Don’t disrupt the main event.

Stay in your place during the ceremony and don’t stand up or move away from the other guests to take photos. For instance, if the professional photographer is capturing images of the ceremony, don’t lean out into the aisle to take your own photo. Make a note to turn the sound off on your camera or phone before the ceremony begins – can you imagine disturbing the reverent silence as the vows are read with the little ‘ding’ of a camera app? How embarrassing.

3. Use flash sparingly.

In a well-lit or outdoor environment, the bride and groom don’t need the flash of a dozen smartphone cameras destroying the romantic atmosphere. Besides this, photos taken from a distance in the dark with flash are rarely flattering. It’s fine to snap a few selfies during the evening with your friends up-close, but think about what you’re doing. You don’t want to blind the bride and groom as they have their first dance together! There’s a difference between capturing a moment, and ruining it.

Wedding Guests Etiquette: Taking Photographs

4. Capture spontaneous moments.

While the professional photographer’s task is to observe the wedding, you get to participate in it. This can lead to so many opportunities for interesting shots that a professional doesn’t come across. You might chance upon an adorable moment with the flower girl, or a sweet shot of the couple talking before they cut the cake. If you keep an eye out you can catch some truly special moments that will make for a wonderful collection of intimate photographs.

5. Be patient.

During the professional group shots you should not take your own – it can cause the wedding party to look at the wrong camera. Most couples will first take some professional photos and then repeat the poses and groupings for their friends and family. Don’t mess with the scheduled line-up by being impatient.

Instagram and Weddings

6. Take lots of pictures of yourself and the other guests having fun at the wedding.

This is the whole point of taking photos as a guest. The married couple will be eager to see how the day went from your perspective. They want you to enjoy the ceremony, the decorations, the meal and the entertainment. Show them just how much fun you and the other guests had and they will be delighted with any pictures you take.

Coffee Unplugged by Cafe Antonio

When people attend a wedding, they probably remember the wedding reception more than the wedding ceremony itself. And when they attend a reception, they would probably ooh and aah over the venue and the ambience, but they would remember most the food they ate. That is why most couples make sure that to make their wedding – and wedding reception – worth remembering, they give a lot of consideration to the catering service and the food, especially with Filipinos being noted as a people who love to eat.

Filipinos’ love affair with gustatory delights has been well chronicled, and one of the developments that have been observed is the growing fondness for coffee, as evidenced by the numerous coffee shops sprouting all over. So when planning to get married, why not offer something different by hiring a coffee-catering service that would make sure guests would cap off their meal with delicious coffee?

Coffee Unplugged for Weddings

Café Antonio has its own coffee nook along the National Highway that can seat only 30 people and therefore perfect for small, intimate gatherings.

But with Coffee Unplugged serving during weddings, guests need not go to Laguna for a taste of Café Antonio’s specialty coffee, described as free from primary defects, has undergone meticulous processing according to stringent standards, and rationed and brewed according to the proper duration and temperature. With Coffee Unplugged, guests can line up at the booth and wait to be served coffee that is individually brewed with the “pourover” method, which is a Japanese method of freshly grinding and manually brewing each coffee serving by the cup. Definitely no instant, 3-in-1 concoctions here!

Coffee Bar for Weddings by Cafe Antonio

Café Antonio prides itself in possessing a wide selection of coffee from different parts of the world, from Colombia in Latin America, Ethiopia in Africa, and Sumatra in Asia. Of course, they also serve our very own kapeng Barako. Their “single origin specialty coffee” from Latin America and Africa are expertly roasted Luca & Tosh Coffee Lab of Subic in Zambales, and ground and brewed upon order. Their premium Philippine coffee blends, meanwhile, are the product of expert roasting by the 18 Days Coffee Roaster in Makati City.

Café Antonio’s coffee offerings come in hot or iced espresso blends. Their bestseller espresso blend is their Owltonio blend which is not too light nor too strong, and whose toasty sweet aroma works well with lattes and iced coffees. Their single origin bestseller, on the other hand, is the Ethiopian sidamo which has a floral and fruity aroma and tastes like tea. For those who opt for less caffeine yet are not crazy for decaffeinated coffee, there is the “sleepy time blend” which is made from 100% Philippine Arabica and has a smooth and clean taste.

Coffee Unplugged by Café Antonio – a guarantee to make wedding banquets as unique as their coffee blends.

Blue Leaf Wedding

Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City is probably one of the fastest business and leisure areas being developed in Metro Manila. Yet despite this progress, it has retained its atmosphere of sleek urban planning amid open, green spaces. Filled with various commercial and entertainment establishments as it is, one can find along Park Avenue at McKinley Hill Village a perfect wedding reception venue: the Blue Leaf Events Pavilion.

Blue Leaf Party Resort

The Blue Leaf is perfect for wedding parties that range from the intimate to the grand. Its three pavilions are all a combination of natural and modern. The smallest of the three is the Jade Pavilion, which at 280 square meters provides an intimate and cozy venue for a maximum of 200 guests. The Silk Pavilion is at 380 square meters and can accommodate as much as 250 guests. Its interesting octagonal shape is reminiscent of Chinese- or Japanese-style pagodas. The largest venue is the Banyan Pavilion, which can fit around 300 guests. It can, however, be connected with the Jade Pavilion to easily accommodate 500 guests.

Each pavilion is fully air-conditioned and equipped with its own audio-visual system. There is also ample space for caterers, and a private lounge that can serve as rest area for the wedding couple (and where the bride can retouch). Powder or rest rooms are luxuriously clean and spacious, too. The pavilions are also surrounded by lush, green, Zen-style gardens with water features.

Blue Leaf Events Place

The Blue leaf offers two types of packages for weddings. The first is for rental of venue, where the wedding party brings in their own suppliers for catering and the like. Rental rates are as follows: Banyan, P150,000; Silk, P140,000; Jade, P130,000; and Banyan + Jade, P260,000. Rates include five hours use for the event, plus an additional two hours for ingress and another hour for egress; use of air condition, LCD projector and 8’ x 8’ projector screen, sound system with amplifiers and microphones; parking space, caterer’s area and pavilion lounge; plus services of support staff for security, engineering and housekeeping.

Additional charges include the following: P5,000 for each excess hour per venue; P1,000 for the services of a dedicated technical assistant; P9,000-P15,000 for rental of generator; P6,000 for breaker; P20,000 for early ingress; P5,000 for a brighter LCD projector and a bigger (9’ x 12’) screen; P6,000 for LED par and/or mood lights; P9,000 for a photobooth; P15,000 for ceiling drapes with crystals; P5,000 for lighted lanterns; P25,000 for a fully-lighted dance floor; and P7,000/lounge set. They may also require charges for use of additional electrical equipment.

Blue Leaf Wedding Banyan Pavillon

All-inclusive wedding packages start at P315,000 which is good for at least 150 guests. The package rate includes use of venue, services from an accredited caterer. For an additional amount, other add-ons like a three layer fondant wedding cake , wine for the tables, photobooth, and an overnight stay at the Premier Suite of the Peninsula Manila, may be availed of.

The Blue Leaf requires a non-refundable P20,000 reservation fee for each pavilion to be used, and which should be paid upon confirmation. A 50% downpayment will then be required within 30 days after confirmation, and the remaining 50% is to be paid 30 days before the actual event. Management also requires a security deposit of P20,000 per pavilion at least 30 days before event. This is returned within seven days after the event, less charges the party may have incurred. All financial matters can be settled via bank, or through their Events Department.

Blue Leaf Event Venue

Some people may view the Blue Leaf’s rates as expensive compared to hotel venues. Still, client satisfaction is guaranteed and the place offers a secluded, exclusive ambience for the wedding party. Its minimalist elegance, too, encourages wedding organizers to be as creative as they can – a virtual canvas to provide a maximum personal experience for everyone.

The Blue Leaf Events Pavilion is accessible to many churches in the Makati, Parañaque and Pasay areas.

**Please note that all prices listed above are applicable until December 31, 2013 only.

Cute Flower Girls

People sometimes find it cute to have animals become part of a wedding entourage as bearers of flower baskets or wedding rings. But in a largely Catholic or Christian country such as the Philippines, this role is given to people, usually children who are part of the family, a close relative, or a family friend. Actually, for Catholic weddings, the flower girl and the ring bearer are not part of the Rite of Marriage and are thus optional. For many churches, there are also guidelines for kids in such roles. These include requirements on minimum age, as well as having received the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Ring Bearers for Wedding

Although optional, children in flower girl and ring bearer roles admittedly add a certain amount of cuteness and charm to the entourage, even if they do not perform their roles well. That is, except when they cry and scream too loud or misbehave, disrupting the wedding ceremony. How then, does one train a child to perform well as a flower girl or as a ring bearer?

flowerbuckets

Make sure that the child can walk straight enough and is not inclined to crawling. Selected participants should also not be easily fearful of the presence of so many strangers. For kids, comfort is a big factor, especially with the outfit he or she may be wearing at the time. It is thus essential to have the child try on the outfit he or she is to actually wear, including the shoes. This will allow the parent to be on the lookout for possible accidents, such as tripping on the hem. When in doubt about getting the clothes ruined, have the child wear something similar in length and shape.

Bible Bearer

It may be a good idea to watch videos, along with the child, of other flower girls or ring bearers. This makes the idea easier for a child to grasp and imitate. The parent can then play a game with the child on walking techniques, complete with props such as baskets or small pillows. This practice can be extended to an actual church aisle, even if it’s a church other than the actual wedding venue.

Wedding Flower Basket

Make sure that the child is in a good mood during the big day. Let him or her have enough sleep. The child should have eaten, as a hungry child is a cranky and disobedient child. If the parent is part of the entourage, have someone else whom the child knows to stand in front or coax the child along. It may also be a good idea to introduce the child to the photographer, since kids usually pose more comfortably with someone they are familiar with. Never force a child to walk when he or she does not want to. If all else fails, walk down the aisle with the child, or carry him/her. Be prepared with a treat as reward for a successful march down the aisle.

Flower Girls at Beach Wedding

If the kids did not participate in the wedding rehearsal, introduce them to each other before the wedding begins, and explain to them their position in the wedding processional – the ring bearer usually precedes the flower girl.

It is also advisable to have the ring bearer bring fake rings, with the real rings kept in the care of the best man or another trusted person. For a ring bearer who is old enough, though, it would be wiser to give him the rings right before the procession begins.

Remember, kids are unpredictable and may thus disturb an otherwise solemn ceremony. But with proper training, they can be, without doubt, adorable and bring a smile to everyone’s face.

Barong or suit and tie for men

Different events call for different dress codes. In the Philippines, what conventions do these dress codes call for?

An occasion that calls for “formal attire” (or black- or white-tie) means a conservative three-piece suit for men (think coat-and-tie or tuxedo) in subdued colors, or a barong Tagalog made of jusi or pinya worn over an undershirt (camisa de chino), matched with dark-colored slacks. Women wear ball gowns, usually floor-length, matched with accessories such as elbow-length gloves and/or jewelry. Men should wear dark leather shoes with matching socks; women should wear dress shoes with heels.

“Semi-formal” is a step down from “formal” yet much dressier than “smart casual”. This means a dress shirt for men, with or without a tie, underneath a dark suit. The versatile barong Tagalog or an embellished Chinese-style shirt is also allowed. Jeans or khakis are definite no-nos; slacks must be of dark material and tailored. Shoes must be dark-colored leather, and worn always with matching socks.

Semi Formal dress code

Women have more leeway with “semi-formal.” The “little black dress” is perfect, with the right length, cut and material. Dresses may fall slightly above the knee, or can reach the ankle, but should be of more formal fabric such as satin and taffeta. Stylish pantsuits, usually as matching tailored top and bottom, are allowed. No tight, jeans, khakis, or skinny pants, however. Shoes may be closed- or open-toed, with the dressy heel-height (no flats), color coordinated. Jewelry is conservative, not too overpowering nor ostentatious. Other possible accessories are purse, scarves or shawls.

Another dress code is known as “smart casual.” This is a bit dressier than “business casual,” or what people wear to the office or to business meetings. The light jacket, cardigan or blazer is usually a staple. “Smart casual” for men means button-down, long-sleeved, collared shirts, worn tucked into slacks such as khakis. Although plain color is the norm for shirts, pin stripes or plaid are safe patterns. Slim-fit, dark-colored jeans – not skinny- are allowed, but not with multi-pockets or cut-outs, and should be worn with a leather belt. Shoes should be leather or lace-up loafers, and worn with socks. Neckties are optional, while other accessories such as watches and bracelets should be at a minimum.

wedding dress code

Women wearing “smart casual” clothes should make sure their skirts or slacks are of conservative length and cut – no skinny pants or micro-minis. Jeans should also be dark-colored and sharp-looking. Tank or tube tops should not expose the belly-button, and should be worn under buttoned jackets. Practically any color of top will do, as long as either the jacket or the bottoms is of neutral color. Footwear should be comfortable – but not to the extent of wearing slippers, beach sandals, or sneakers. Matching accessories should be at a minimum and not too flashy.

Casual wedding dress

The “casual” look, meanwhile, means informal, comfortable attire that falls short of “rugged” or “sporty.” No undershirt, short shorts or slippers, unless the occasion calls for “beach casual.” Casual attire allows clothes of lighter material, in any color or print (even floral). Men can wear sport shirts or short-sleeved button-down shirts in more festive colors, either tucked-in or hanging loose. Plain t-shirts are allowed, if dressed up with the right accessories such as a light jacket (or a choker necklace for women). Bottoms can call for jeans or slacks. Women can also wear a “sundress” of decent length, trousers, or knee-length shorts. Men can wear any footwear, even rubber-soled ones such as light sneakers. Women can wear flats or sling-back sandals.

Whatever kind of attire is called for, one must always consider the appropriateness of the event or occasion, venue, and accessories. Catholic churches often frown on skin-baring attire. Evening events are, generally, often dressier than daytime ones. Women should also always regard decency in clothes – nothing too revealing or too eye-catching, or something that would upstage an event’s VIPs, especially the bride. Finally, always strive for a harmonious look with the right fabric texture, color and cut, as well as accessories or embellishments.
